We manufacture HID (High Intensity Discharge), LED (Light Emitting Diodes) and Halogen lighting technologies. Senior Project Engineer

We are searching for a Sr. Project Engineer who will work in our New Product Development team, focusing on our J.W. Speaker products.
This is a very fast-paced environment with an extensive project load. The duties will be varied, but will consist of the following:

New Product Development & Project Management

  • Overall project responsibility, maintaining knowledge of the "big picture," yet still aware of the details
  • Review/approve concept, layout, finish, and assembly solid models and drawings using Pro/E software, including the "surfacing" module and Pro/Intralink
  • Strong knowledge of cross-functional team member disciplines and tools such as materials, ERP system, QC practices, and manufacturing processes
  • Responsible for monitoring commercial deliverables on a day-to-day basis and relaying to Account Manager
  • Assist R&D and Sales in concept development and phase 1 activities
  • Develop initial quotes and timing with minimum support
  • Effectively manages project team and phase meetings, communicates project status and issues
  • Knowledge of electrical and lighting technology, familiarity with vehicle lighting requirements and regulations (SAE, ECE, FMVSS)
  • Knowledge of the application of CAE methods and tools

It is anticipated that this position will assume an engineering leadership role within the next 18-24 months. Candidates with previous leadership experience are encouraged to apply.

Senior Product Designer

PRO/E and Design:

  • Perform complex 3-D modeling using surfacing/advanced surfacing modules in 2001/Wildfire versions of PRO/E
  • Create and provide complex designs (including optics), layouts, illustrations, and detail drawings per best practices, standards, and project/product engineer direction
  • Complete component and assembly reviews, including tolerance studies and present potential issues to a project/product engineer
  • Record and verify accuracy of BOM’s, engineering changes, dimensioning, and tolerancing

Engineering Documentation:

  • Ability to work with multiple projects and set priorities to assure timely completion of assignments
  • Support prototype procurement and sample builds as required
  • Proficient using business system software to find information and execute changes

Technical Support:

  • Support project/product engineer working with manufacturing and purchasing to improve designs and minimize costs

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Associate degree in technical field, mechanical design preferred
  • 5 years designing components and assemblies, including injection molded components
  • 5 years PRO/E 2001 Wildfire, including Pro/Intralink and surfacing user experience required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and 3D visualization skills

Tool Room Technician C - 1st Shift

Tool Room Technician C

Due to our tremendous growth, we are looking to hire a Technician for our busy Tool Room. This first shift position will focus on performing change-overs for our 22 plastic injection molding presses, as well as tool maintenance. Duties will be varied, but will include the following:

  • Operate tool room equipment, including overhead cranes
  • Disassembly and reassembly of basic molds and dies
  • Performing tool changeovers and preventative mold maintenance as needed

Qualified candidates will be mechanically inclined, possess a strong ability to work independently, and have a commitment to quality. Additionally, the ability to be flexible in scheduling is a must for this position, as there are times when our tool room associates are required to work additional hours to support our molding department needs, including on weekends.

Execute planned, systemic activities to support the OFP


  • Daily zone management, finished goods, receiving, inspection, non-conforming materials
  • Lead problem solving using PDCA
  • Lead our morning market


Drive compliance to change management system (ECN and Deviation)


  • Assure that proposed changes are clearly defined
  • Assure that proposed changes do not negatively impact our customers, internal operations, and suppliers


Support and Improve the Quality Management System


  • Drive standardization of "best practices" with QMS
  • Conduct internal QMS audits
  • Coach other associates on proper usage of quality tools


Qualified candidates must possess the following:


  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Business disciplines

Electronic Engineer

Design:

  • Create, develop, and provide circuits, schmatic drawings, and layouts to customers and suppliers as requested
  • Work closely with manufacturing and our suppliers through purchasing to design robust products, simplify assembly and testing, introduce new concepts, and to help advance the state of the art of the electronic assembly process
  • Design, develop, prepare, procure, and validate electronic prototype and sample assemblies as requested
  • Specify components, approve department documentation (layouts, CAD drawings, etc…) and sources

Project Management:

  • Knowledge and understanding of customer technical requirements and expectations
  • Guidance, and support to Product Designers and Electronic Technician and support to Project Managers and other cross-functional team members
  • Accurate and timely completion of all assigned design related activities for NPD and R&D projects
  • Develop initial resource loaded design project plans and manage the plan execution utilizing MS Project
  • Estimate and quote new project duration, assumptions, feasibility, risks, product and project costs relative to all electrical design related activities
  • Ability to provide cost estimates for new designs and projects, both high level and detailed
  • Abillity to interact effectively with internal and external customers and handle multiple projects simultaneously

Applicable Technology – General:

  • Experience with circuit board layout, Gerber files, Eagle board layout software, circuit simulation software and mechanical drawing packages
  • Familiarity with vehicle lighting requirements and regulation (SAE, ECE, FMVSS)
  • Familiarity with MS Office software

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • BSEE or BSEET
  • 5 years minimum designing electronic circuits
