J. W. Speaker has been producing quality lighting systems for vehicular markets for over 50 years.  Our goal is to add value to our customers’ products by applying the latest in state-of-the-art technologies.

Company History

J.W. Speaker Corporation's P38 GI Can OpenerJ.W. Speaker Corporation was founded in 1935 by John W. Speaker. Early products included tire repair equipment and kits, radiator fronts, car and truck mirrors, and automotive lighting. In the early 1940's, J.W. Speaker Corporation developed the Heatab® miniature portable stove and the "P38" GI can opener - both of which were widely used during World War II and for several decades thereafter by the U.S. military.

Speaker Corporation's Model 6130 LED HeadlampsIn 1960, under the leadership of John’s son Jack, the corporation shifted its focus to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vehicular lighting - initially for lawn & garden and golf & turf tractors.  Since then, J. W. Speaker has developed and specialized in manufacturing a wide variety of lighting products for other OEMs in agriculture, construction, heavy commercial, material handling, mining, motorcycle, recreation, aviation markets.


Today J.W. Speaker is lead by John's grandsons Tim and Jamie Speaker. The company is focused on developing innovative lighting solutions for customers around the world. J.W. Speaker continues to not only embrace the latest in lighting technology, but also works closely with manufacturers to develop custom vehicular lighting solutions.

In May 2009 J.W. Speaker Corporation completed construction of a new 160,000 square foot facility located on a 64-acre campus in Germantown, Wisconsin. The new facility was built with Lean and Flow manufacturing processes in mind and reflects the company's commitment to the development of innovative lighting solutions. Among many other improvements, our test labs have been expanded and the company is qualified to self-certify for ECE, SAE and DOT specifications.
